Ideator is an early build. If something is off, say so and we will look into it.
How to get help
What helps
- Your macOS version.
- Ideator’s version line, the last line in Settings, such as
Version 0.9 (57), commit 1a2b3c4. - What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead.
- A screenshot, if you have one.
Quick answers
- macOS says Ideator can’t be opened
- The early build is not notarized yet. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll to the message about Ideator, click Open Anyway, and confirm. The install steps show it.
- I can’t find the menu bar icon
- Ideator has no Dock icon; look for the stacked-rectangles icon at the top right. On a crowded menu bar the notch can hide it. The ⋯ button on the stack’s tan ribbon has Settings and Quit too, and ⌃⌥I hides or shows every card from any app.
- Collapsed cards say “Summary unavailable”
- Summaries need your own Anthropic API key. Choose Settings… from the menu bar icon, paste the key, and click Save. Hover the text to see the reason a summary failed.
- “Ideator can’t save your notes”
- Ideator was not allowed to use your Documents folder. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Files & Folders and turn Ideator on.
- Where are my notes?
- In
~/Documents/Ideator, one Markdown file per card. They are yours to open, copy, or back up like any other file.
