System Labs

Privacy Policy

Effective October 27, 2026. System Labs LLC makes Ideator and runs this website. This page says what each does with your data. The short version: your notes stay on your Mac, and nothing is collected.

Ideator

Your notes stay on your Mac

Each card is a Markdown file in ~/Documents/Ideator. One hidden file in the same folder holds each card’s position, the stack order, which cards are collapsed, and cached summaries. Ideator has no account, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no tracking. It makes no network request other than the two described below.

Summaries go to Anthropic, only with your key

If you save your own Anthropic API key in Settings, Ideator sends a card’s title and body as plain text to Anthropic’s API, with your key, and receives a short summary for that card. It does this a few seconds after you stop typing in a card, when you change the key, and when you press a card’s refresh button. Anthropic’s own terms and privacy policy cover the text once it arrives. Remove the key in Settings and Ideator sends nothing to Anthropic. The key is stored in your login Keychain, never in the notes folder.

The daily update check asks GitHub

Once a day, and whenever you click Check Now in Settings or Check for Updates… in the menu bar icon’s menu, Ideator downloads a short file from GitHub that names the newest version. The request carries no notes, no key, and no system profile. GitHub sees your IP address and which version of Ideator you have. If a newer version exists, Ideator asks you before it downloads and installs it. To turn the daily check off, clear “Check for updates automatically” in Settings.

Nothing else leaves your Mac

That is the whole list.
